Irrational?
I personally think that we are defined much more by our irrational elements. Irrational elements can take many forms, as they are the times that we lack power over the situation and decide to put ourselves in fates hands. If we were to always act in our most beneficial self interest we would all be extremely one dimensional without any need to take risk and try new sometimes dangerous things. While I enjoy taking charge and creating benefits for myself, I feel as though taking chances and living life somewhat on the edge makes even more sense.

I too believe that the irrational elements to our personalities and our lives make us much more interesting people, with much more exciting lives. If we never took a a chance on an irrational thought we can never experience the amazing unpredictability of life.

I also strongly agree with what you said in the end with regards to acting in our most beneficial self interest it is just something in the back of my mind that makes me act irrationally.

ReplyDeleteI too believe that we are defined more by our irrational elements and decisions than that of our rational ones. I enjoyed of how you spoke of taking risks and how they are so important to the experiences one creates from making those decisions. I also agree about how you said that irrational elements can come in many forms and how irrational decisions are perceived as negative yet they are not! Loved your post!

I completely agree with what you have to say here Jack. I too think that Irruption decisions define us and give us depth and character because without irrational decision, we would all be uniform and uninteresting with no special characteristics differing us from the next person. Our irrational decisions also let us live and learn from the experiences that come with making those bold decisions. Overall great job and i totally agree with you.
